Diane de Poitiers: La Reine de la Terre?

A clay Showcase Pipe or Pipe d'Etalage with large figural bowl by Gambier, Givet, France. 

Height 10" (25.5 cm); diameter: 8" (20.5 cm)

The bowl is a bust of Diane de Poitiers.

«Diane chasseresse» de Jean Goujon (ca. 1510-ca. 1565) , Le Louvre

with the hair in braids pinned up, diadem and jewelery on the forehead. 

Upper part hairstyle is a loose lid.

On the base is a deer's head with antlers, flowers and leafy branches, cartouche with the inscription "SOUVENT FEMME VARIE BIEN FOL EST QUI S'Y FIE ...".
