Double-headed eagle with spread wings

A masterpiece from the Amsterdam Pipe Museum: Tobacco Pipe with figural wood bowl, flat bottom and rising silver mounted stem (German; 1810 - 1850).

The bowl is in the shape of a sitting eagle spreading its wings

the cover consists of two heads with long necks, with a safety silver chain connected to each other

the base of the bowl is shaped in the form of a pedestal consisting of the two bird's legs which looks as if the animal is sitting on a nest.

 The inside of the bowl is lined with meerschaum.
