The Last Supper


Between 53-57 AD Paul the Apostole wrote the First Epistle to the Corinthians,





and for the first time reported the final meal that Jesus shared with his Apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. It has since been referred to as the Last Supper.

The Last Supper has inspired artists from many cultures over the centuries that followed.

But it is the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci in the late 1490's that most captured later generations' attention,





including meerschaum master pipe carvers in the 1850's
